Medical transcription is the process of accurately and quickly transcribing medical records that have been dictated by physicians and other healthcare providers. This includes letters, psychiatric evaluations, laboratory, x-ray, and pathology reports; it also includes history and physical reports, clinical notes, office notes, operative reports, consultation notes, and discharge summaries. A medical transcriptionist is a person who helps doctors and specialized surgeons by transcribing, formatting, and editing their dictated medical reports. They are knowledgeable about medical terminology, typing, and language.

Assessment Scheme for Certification
The following evaluation criteria will be applied to assess student performance in the course. The total marks allotted are 100, distributed across four key components:
*Note: An attendance of above 80% is madatory for students.
A) Assignments 1 to 10 = 50 Marks(5 Number for each) (A minimum score of 18 marks is required to qualify for this section.)
B) Assignments 11 to 16 = 18 Marks(3 Number for each) (A minimum score of 6 marks is required to qualify for this section.)
Evaluation will be based on hands-on proficiency and application of course concepts.
C) Final Test (MCQ) – 12 Marks (A minimum score of 6 marks is required to qualify for this section)
A multiple-choice examination to assess theoretical understanding of the course content.
D) 20 Marks for Internship
Total: 100 Marks (minimum passings marks are 35 to qualify overall.)
Certification Eligibility
Candidates will be eligible to receive the course certificate only upon fulfilling the minimum attendance criteria and completing all assessment components.
